Wharf Work
Blackwattle Bay
Detailed design of refurbishing of Blackwattle Bay wharf including repair of pile caps, concrete planking and installation of all services to service a new tourist hub for harbour cruises. We had to demolish the old wharf in stages and while we were demolishing we repaired the tops of the piles as we went, saving a lot of expense with not using barges. We also laid the new planks as we went. All of the services were hung off a special gantry we designed under the wharf. The innovation we used saved the client a large amount of money which obviously made them very happy.

Wharf 3 Seawall Extension
We were engaged by Sydney Ports Authority to construct an extension of the seawall so as they were able to construct an extra storage area. This work required the services of divers to place a geotechnical fabric on the sea floor in order to be able to place the anchor rock. While we were placing the layers of rock we had to keep the divers on site to co-ordinate the laying. We used long reach excavators with grabs to place the rock. In order to stop any pollution in the harbour we hung a suspended silt curtain to prevent this from happening.
When the rock armour was out of the water we imported clean crushed sandstone and compacted the fill to 98% compaction in layers. This gave the port approximately 800m² of extra storage space for maintenance vehicles freeing up other very valuable space for containers.
